Golf is boring. Yeah, that’s what I always thought too, until I actually stepped foot on a golf course. It’s a healthy mix of being outside in nature, getting cute gear, dressing in cute fits, and developing a skill. I love being outside, so when my boyfriend started playing, I decided to be his passenger princess in a golf cart. Then, I started grabbing clubs for him. Which then led to reading greens with him. I decorate cakes, so I’m constantly looking at icing on cakes and correcting dips in the icing and making them level. Reading greens takes a similar skill. When you putt, it’s helpful to figure out the leans and the dips of the ground so you know where to aim for the cup. It’s actually entertaining!

I continued to go out to the golf course to watch, help, and collect balls left in the woods. Another fun aspect of going was to experience the wildlife! I seen a beaver swim and sun himself on one of the courses. Also, I seen three bucks fighting with their antlers. Not to mention, seeing cranes and squirrels often. Just another reason to be out on the courses!

Anyway, after going so often, I decided to learn to play golf myself. I got tired of just watching. For awhile, I went back and forth about playing. It was when Kevin offered me his old golf clubs to use, I thought, why not give it a try?
The next time I tagged along on the golf course, I borrowed a couple sticks to just see if I might like playing. I started with a sand wedge and a putter because Kevin didn’t care if I ruined them. I actually found the sand wedge club abandoned on a golf course a month ago. Little did I know, it would start my love for golf. I putted around on the greens and did really well! Then I drove the ball with the sand wedge and actually did pretty well. I ended up deciding to start playing myself.
I just had to invest in a golf bag, which I found at Costco. I saw the bag and was like, it’s perfect for me. The bag was Sunday Golf brand in a tan color. I didn’t want a pink bag, but did want some pink accessories, just so it would be known that a girl can play golf too lol I picked up the bag, then added a cute bear bag charm I got awhile back from Hobby Lobby, a silicone attachable spray hand sanitizer that I like from Dollar Tree, and a pink bandana. I am good to go! I put Kevin’s clubs, driver, and putter in my bag! See, golf is fun!

After getting everything ready, I wanted to go golfing the next evening! I was excited to get out on the course as an actual golfer! Unfortunately, Kevin got called into work for a Caddie job, so I had to wait to take on the course. Instead, I got some golf outfit ideas on Instagram and watched some tips online. My love for skorts came in handy because a lot of women’s golf outfits include a pleated skort, which I already owned in a few colors already. I did pick up a couple collared tops that were on sale at Target. Everything golf is on sale right now because it’s the end of the year. Golf courses close down once November hits, for the most part. Makes it a good time to start though!
Eventually, an evening opened up and I was able to load up my golf bag into the cart for the first time as a golfer! I surprised myself on how well I played! I wasn’t perfect, but I hit the ball straight. The par 3 holes I played all the way through, using my own ball, but on the more challenging holes, I dropped my ball next to Kevin’s. I ended up scoring a 60, which I learned wasn’t too bad for my first time golfing. Kevin said if I scored over 100, I probably wouldn’t be considered good. I was able to keep up with him, for the most part, so I was happy. My goal truly isn’t to be really good, it’s just to spend time in nature and with my man. If I randomly play a good hole, that’s a bonus! Most of the holes I shot in 6 swings. That’s under double digits, so it was a good round, in my book.

Altogether, I’ve played 3 rounds so far. On my latest round, I GOT A BOUGIE, which is one over par! That’s really good for a beginner! Kevin said when he first started, he was excited just getting a double bougie! I even played my own ball all the way through! On the other holes, though, I pretty much shot in 8 swings. In my defense, Kevin farted in the middle of one of my swings and made me laugh so I messed up my shot. I did hit some really good drives though! On the first hole, I was horrible and wacked a beaver pelt during my drive, but ended the last hole with a perfect drive! I learned to tee up the ball higher and angle my body differently, which helped.

Have any of you ever played golf? Let me know any tips for me as a beginner! I’m still learning a lot. Also, if you all are interested in seeing more golf content, let me know! I might start sharing my golf outfits, if you all are interested!
