I’ve never loved my hair. I’ve always had thin hair. When I was younger, I got a perm hoping that would give me more volume but I think it damaged my hair more. I would always have my hair up in a huge scrunchie to make it look more full because my hair looked pathetic down.
I usually would hide it up in a tiny bun, wear headbands to cover the flatness of my hair, or wear a hat. I actually had a hard time finding photos that showed my hair well to reveal what my hair looked like before extensions.

I discovered clip in extensions later in life but was always self conscious about them. They gave me confidence though and I could actually go a day with my hair down without being embarrassed about how stringy and thin my hair was.

I wanted thicker hair without extensions so I decided to try taking Nutrifol Hair Vitamins. They worked and my hair was thicker, shedded less, and I was feeling better about my natural hair. I took them for 6 months straight and my hair was thicker, but still not my dream hair.

I looked into getting professional extensions but they were super expensive and I would never be able to afford them. Just when I was losing hope in ever having hair I loved, I found a small town hair salon where a girl my age was installing hair extensions for a more reasonable price because she wants girls to be able to have pretty hair they can afford. I decided to get a consultation to just see what she could do. She explained the rumors of your natural hair being ruined by extensions were just because the extensions were not properly installed. I was concerned about that. She specialized in extensions and said my hair would actually become healthier with extensions! I decided to order and come back for the install of my new extensions I bought with my Christmas money that year!
I decided to get 3 rows of 18in hair extensions and I was excited about my hair for the first time! I made fun, little before and after hair transformation reels (videos) to document the big day on my Instagram. My hairdresser, Libby, took before and after photos and I’m still in shock that I was able to have hair to brush, braid, and hold a ponytail!

After a year, I decided to get just 2 rows of 16 inch extensions and that’s what I’ve had for awhile. They are slightly darker than the first set, but still lighter than the ones I want next. Now, I want to do something different. Like a drastic change of length. I even want to change the color from a blonde highlight to my natural color. My hairdresser said my natural hair color has more cool tones so we are going with a cooler color rather than the warm tones I have now. I picked out the color, now I’m contemplating the length. I’m either going to go with a 14in or a 22in. I think I would like both, but I’m not sure which one to choose!

I have inspo pics below, which length do you think I should go with next? Ignore the color, but which would you go with as far as length? I’m leaning towards one of them but I don’t want to share so it won’t interfere with the votes lol Share in a comment below!
I’ll let you all know what I decide to go with and share more photos! I can’t wait! I won’t be going back until the fall so we have some time to decide! This will be fun!
Also, let me know if you all have any questions about extensions and I’ll answer them in another blog post! I’ll share my personal experiences and more! Share your questions by shooting a comment below!
